This is a nice game for fans who want realism without getting bogged down with endless details, numerous rolls of the dice, or fumbling through clumsy charts. The rules are easy to learn right out of the box and after playing a full quarter, you'll have the the game mechanics down pat!
The self-explanatory player ratings, color-coded charts, and multi-colored dice provide quick results on every play.
Some defenses will smother the run (watch out for those -4 teams . . . they'll frustrate your running game), others will frequently sack the quarterback, and some won't be able to get out of their own way, giving up huge chunks of yardage.
On offense, you'll see star running backs grind out long drives and fleet-footed receivers streak for the end zone.
This is a fun, fast moving game. I purchased the 1977 season and after only a few games, I'm re-living those golden days of Tony Dorsett, Ken Stabler, Fran Tarkenton, and rest of the "greats" from the 70s. This is definitely a worthwhile purchase.
